Not in a ‘heroic save-the-world kind of way’ but in a ‘you really need therapy and to learn your own self-worth’ way. I don’t think I’ve ever been less invested in a MMC before.Ĭaelynn isn’t much better she’s constantly miserable and willingly sacrifices herself at every turn. I’m all for both men and women being able to express their emotions without feeling shame but Rev is essentially a big toddler in this, he’s continuously crying, throwing things and pouting his way through the story. Being fae I know the author has stated they look much younger but we know our MC’s at least are both 30 years old we should not be seeing tantrums and the level of emotional immaturity that they have. The whole cast of characters act very immature and honestly if this was set in a high school it would read exactly the same. Don’t get me wrong there’s a lot here that really doesn’t work for me but underneath all that the story keeps me reading. I don’t know what it is about these books but the story has me totally hooked.
